Debarati DasGupta completed her bachelor’s in chemistry Honors (BS) from St. Xavier’s College Kolkata, India. She then cleared the highly competitive All India Joint Entrance exam to pursue her interests in Physical Chemistry at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IITD), the top ranked institute in India. Intrigued with protein structures and their complexity, she joined Prof B Jayaram at IITD for a PhD in Computational Biophysical Chemistry. She completed her PhD in 2018 summer and has hence relocated to the United States joining the University of Michigan as a postdoctoral researcher working in the field of structure based and ligand-based drug design, biomolecular simulations, and small molecule drug discovery pipelines. She is presently in her third year of postdoc at the University of Michigan, working with renowned Professor Heather Carlson. In her free time, she loves cooking authentic Indian food and has a love for fixing cars herself. Considers herself as a partial motorhead.
