Deniz is a molecular biologist who is not afraid to tackle challenging research questions with a multidisciplinary mindset. She received her Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Cornell University in the lab of Dr. Maria Jasin studying genome editing and DNA damage response. As a Damon Runyon fellow, she joined Dr. David Toczyski’s lab at UCSF to study the functions of atypical ubiquitin chains using high throughput genetic screens. As an American Heart Association fellow in Dr. Maria Barna’s lab at Stanford University, she worked on diverse proteins that interact with ribosomes and affect mRNA translation. Deniz’ work in industry has focused on target discovery utilizing diverse discovery platforms such as ribosome profiling, cell surface proteomics, and VLRB affinity reagent generation. She has also contributed to IND-enabling studies and the development of bispecific antibodies for immuno-oncology programs.
